The Mini Arcade Tabletop version of Frogger is an electronic game produced by Coleco under license from Sega, published in 1982 and based on the 1981 arcade game Frogger. It is based on vacuum fluorescent display (VFD), a display device once commonly used in consumer electronics, which while offering a simpler version than the original arcade game (and more affordable), is largely identical to the original thanks to Frogger's design which lends itself well to games of this type.
The object of the game is to direct the frogs to their homes one by one. To do this, each frog must avoid cars while crossing a busy road and navigate a river with logs and turtles, which move horizontally across the screen. The top of the screen contains six "frog houses", which are the destinations of each frog.
Launched in 1982 as one of the first four titles in Coleco's Mini Arcade Tabletop series, Frogger contributed to the achievement of the approximately three million units sold in a year, which led to the subsequent publication in 1983 of the other three titles in the second series, Ms Pac-Man, Zaxxon and Donkey Kong Junior.
