MASTER SYSTEM
MASTER SYSTEM

The Sega Master System (SMS) is a third-generation 8-bit home console manufactured by Sega and launched in North America in 1986, followed by Europe in 1987, and Brazil in 1989. The Master System uses two slots for games, one for ROM cartridges format, holding up to 4 Mbit of game code, and one for the credit card-sized format Sega Cards, holding up to 256 kbit, along with an expansion slot and 2 controller ports. The accessories include a light gun and 3D glasses that work with a range of specially designed games. The Master System was discontinued in US in 1992 and in Europe in 1996, with estimated sales between 10 and 13 million units, but it has had continued success in Brazil where new variations have continued to be released long after it was discontinued elsewhere, by making it the longest-lived console in the history of video games.
